Festoon Necklace

Festoons are types of necklaces that are highly ornate in design and that feature numerous drapes or rows of beads, metallic chains or extensions in an intricate design.
Highly popular during the late 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, festoon necklaces are often worn by royalty. The name comes from the French “festoon” and Italian “festone,” (the Late Latin “festo”), meaning ‘festive garland’ or ‘garland of flowers’, evoking the ornate style of this necklace type.
